• automatic caption generation, (for example this work by Andrej Karpathy and Li Fei-Fei – image below)
• speech recognition (Google Now, Siri, Baidu),
• machine translation
• robotics / motor control
• games (exceeding human-level in many Atari games and defeating a European Go champion),
